🌞 We’re so excited to be opening our doors and joining in with the wonderful community spirit of the Northcote Road Summer Festival tomorrow! 🐾

As your local independent vets, we’ll be located at the clinic throughout the day, 176 Northcote Road! Pop in to meet the team, find out a little more about what we do, or simply stop by for a good old chin wag with familiar faces we haven’t caught up with in a while.

Our fabulous tote bags are back - with a fun new twist! 🛍️ We’ve also got plenty to keep the little ones entertained, and with London enjoying a proper summer heatwave, our air conditioning will be on full blast - so do pop in, cool off for a few minutes, and say hello! ❄️☀️

🐾 As much as we love seeing our furry friends, this heatwave is a good reminder that our pets are happiest, and safest, staying somewhere cool and shaded, rather than joining for errands and shopping trips. Of course, if your pet is poorly or needs our help, we’re here and open as usual. ❤️

We know that, historically, vet visits haven’t always been a positive experience for every pet. Many dogs arrive expecting something unfamiliar or stressful, which is why we put so much emphasis on creating a calm, welcoming environment from the moment they walk through our doors.

Building trust takes time, but it starts with a gentle approach, patience, and helping pets feel safe and comfortable during their visit.

The potential of a little London drizzle is no reason to stay indoors when you’ve got the right raincoat and plenty of enthusiasm for a walk. This happy Standard Poodle is making the most of the weekend, proving that rainy days can be just as fun as sunny ones.
🌱 As grass seed season is now upon us, don’t forget to check your dog’s paws, ears, and coat after walks, especially if you’ve been exploring long grass or meadows. 🌱 Catching grass seeds early can help prevent discomfort and avoid a trip to the vet.

☀️🐾 London is heating up this week, and our pets can struggle in the heat more than we realise.
Remember: if it feels too hot for you, it’s too hot for them too ❤️
Here are a few simple ways to keep your furry friends safe during the heatwave:
💧 Always provide fresh, cool water
🌳 Walk dogs early morning or later evening
🔥 Avoid hot pavements : if it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for paws
🏠 Keep pets in shaded, well-ventilated areas
🚫 NEVER leave pets in cars, even for a few minutes, PLEASE 🙏🏻
🧊 Cooling mats, damp towels, and frozen treats can help keep temperatures down
Watch for signs of heatstroke:
⚠️ Excessive panting
⚠️ Drooling
⚠️ Lethargy or wobbliness
⚠️ Vomiting or collapse
If you’re worried your pet may be overheating, contact your vet immediately.

‼️IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR PETS THAT TRAVEL specifically on EU ISSUED PET PASSPORTS 🇪🇺 It has frustratingly just been announced 😅 that as of THIS Wednesday 22nd April, EU-issued PET PASSPORT can NO longer be used for travel from the UK to the EU, unless your PRIMARY residence is in the EU. VISIT the government website for full details: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-eu-rules-for-pet-travel-for-gb-residents 💻
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOUR PET:
* EU pet passports are NO longer valid for UK → EU travel (unless EU-resident)
* You will now need an Animal Health Certificate (AHC) for each trip
* The AHC must be issued by an Official Veterinarian (OV) within 1–10 days before travel
* A new certificate is required for every entry into the EU
PLANNING AHEAD:
* Book your AHC appointment early to avoid delays or stress
* First-time travellers this is not targeted at you as you need additional steps so do research or contact us for more guidance:
E.g. Rabies vaccination at least 28 days before travel

Brave little hero! 🐾💛
This sweet golden retriever pup came in for a quick visit and handled everything like an absolute champ. Even with the need for a bandage and the famous cone of courage, he kept that big golden smile the whole time. 🐶✨
Lots of cuddles, gentle care, and extra treats from our amazing nurse in her cheerful pink scrubs made the day a little brighter. Clearly his cone game is strong. 😄🩺
